Time : Dec 13 , 2018

Beijing China / Dec 12th 2018 ThinkForce today announced the company has joined the OpenPOWER Foundation, an open development community based on the POWER microprocessor architecture.

ThinkForce joins a growing roster of technology organizations working collaboratively to build advanced server, networking, storage and acceleration technology as well as industry leading open source software aimed at delivering more choice, control and flexibility to developers of next-generation, hyperscale and cloud data centers.  The group makes POWER hardware and software available to open development for the first time, as well as making POWER intellectual property licensable to others, greatly expanding the ecosystem of innovators on the platform.

ThinkForce focuses on AI computing acceleration ASIC design and corresponding smart hardware product development. We have patent-pending DNN calculation acceleration architecture ManyCoreTM upon which we devise heterogeneous computing SoC chips with advanced silicon art for multiple segment markets. We also provide our customers with matching TFDLTM software toolkits to ease platform migration of trained networks. ThinkForce has joined Machine Learning workgroup and will keep tracking of related community activities.

During the keynote speech of OpenPOWER China Summit 2018, ThinkForce VP Marketing Mr. Zhenning Zhang stated: “Together with leading AI algorithms and various AI tech commercialization cases in China, local chip companies’ design thinking and engineering implementation could bring diversified add-on values to the world. Openness stands for power and confidence. We adhere to an open mind and share our AI acceleration technology with our partners and customers  ”

“The development model of the OpenPOWER Foundation is one that elicits collaboration and represents a new way in exploiting and innovating around processor technology,” says Hugh Blemings, Executive Director of OpenPOWER Foundation. “With the Power architecture designed for Big Data and Cloud, new OpenPOWER Foundation members like ThinkForce, will be able to add their own innovations on top of the technology to create new applications that capitalize on emerging workloads. ThinkForce’s  computer vision inference acceleration ASICs meet the industry demand we see. We look forward to their joint solution with POWER processor which will further enrich our AI eco-system”.
